The project re-uses and re-news the incredible qualities of the historical part of Porto: a network of connections leading from the river bank to the city centre in the Ribeira area. We want to spread out these unique connections to the residual river front of the intervention area.

The stairs will be at the centre of all new developments, transforming both the existing empty containers and the proposed dwellings in the Fontainhas area. The stairs can turn into interior arcades or new neighbourhood plazas but they will allways connect the promenade on the river front to the city centre above the slope.
